Eagle’s Bonfire Brewing enjoys early success
Vail, CO Colorado
EAGLE, Colorado – Bonfire Brewing, Eagle’s much-anticipated new beer-drinking establishment, set a date for its grand opening … and then had to push it back because it is running out of beer.
“We are blowing through our beer so fast that we don’t think we’ll have enough to do the grand opening on Dec. 11,” said Andy Jessen, one of the brewery’s owner/operators.-“We’re going to hold off until we can get some more kegs and stockpile a bit.”
The business had a soft opening around Nov. 19.
“The first batches of beer came out great,” Jessen said. “One of the people who came by was an amateur beer critic who is traveling around the country and posting reviews online, and he gave our beer a pretty solid rating.”
Bonfire has three beer varieties on tap so far – a wheat, brown and India pale ale – and more will be coming soon, Jessen said.
Located at 127 Second St. in Eagle, Bonfire Brewing serves beer and prepackaged snacks from 4 p.m. to close Tuesday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday.
“On the weekdays we haven’t had a set time for closing,” Jessen said. “We’ve been staying open until it slows down.”
The brewery started with humble beginnings, when Matt Wirtz received a home-brew kit as a Christmas present one year. Not long after, Wirtz mastered his new hobby around the same time that he and a group of friends needed to find a new source of income.
