Eastern Vail Valley Subway stores under new ownership

Daily Staff Report
Vail, CO, Colorado

Jim Comerford, owner of the Edwards Subway restaurant, has purchased the Avon, West Vail and Lionshead Subway restaurants. Comerford owned these restaurants in the late 1980s and early 1990s, selling the three up-valley locations in the mid-1990s. Comerford opened the Edwards Subway restaurant in May of 2004.

The Avon Subway is currently closed for renovation, with reopening scheduled for June 5. The West Vail restaurant will also close for a few days in June. Plans for the Lionshead will be announced soon.

“I think it’s important for people to know that all the Subway restaurants from Edwards to Vail are now under the same local ownership,” Comerford said. “We plan to implement a more local-friendly pricing strategy for all restaurants, aligning with Subway’s national marketing and pricing campaigns, which is something the mountain resort Subway restaurants have not done in the past. We will also be opening the Lionshead Subway on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer.”

As owner of the Edwards Subway, Comerford has been active in the community. He recently donated sandwich platters and three-foot subs to feed the teachers and staff at Battle Mountain and Red Canyon High Schools, Berry Creek Middle School, Eagle County Charter Academy and June Creek and Edwards Elementary Schools. The Edwards Subway also provided free sandwich party platters for Battle Mountain High School’s Project Graduation party, free breakfast sandwiches for Red Canyon High School’s girl’s night out and was a sponsor of The Vail Academy’s golf tournament.
