Eby Creek Road traffic set to shift again on Thursday

EAGLE — Last week, traffic shifted at the northern Interstate 70 interchange roundabout construction area. This week, it is the south interchange roundabout’s turn.

“Thursday, we will start driving on the new concrete paving people can see now, along with some temporary asphalt to tie the lanes together,” said Tom Gosiorowski, Eagle town engineer.

Like last week’s lane shift, Gosiorowski said there will be the same number of traffic lanes open as before, they will just be in different places. Traffic impacts should be minimal because the number of traffic lanes through the construction zone will be unchanged. Access to homes and businesses will not be impacted, and no closures or delays are expected. Once the lane change is done, crews will begin tearing out pavement where traffic is currently routed in preparation of the next phase of roundabout construction.

Lack of lane stripes

Gosiorowski said last week’s traffic lane shift at the north I-70 interchange roundabout has left motorists a bit confused. Part of the problem is lane stripes, or rather the lack thereof. Gosiorowski said the truck that was scheduled to complete the stripe project experienced mechanical issues last week, but it is slated to be at the site on Thursday.

Additionally, Gosiorowski said the temporary traffic light at the north interchange location will be moving closer to the exit ramp. That move should also cut down on motorists’ confusion at the construction site.
