EC Alert subscribers must re-subscribe by Nov. 1
EAGLE COUNTY — Residents, visitors and business owners already subscribed to Eagle County’s EC Alert system need to re-register at http://www.ecalert.org when the system undergoes a service change Monday.
The county’s current provider for EC Alerts is retiring the system, and Everbridge, the system in use locally for 911 callbacks, has been selected as the replacement.
“This change will move us off a platform that is no longer supported, while also consolidating our emergency notifications into one system,” said Barry Smith, Eagle County emergency manager.
Subscribers to the new EC Alert platform will be able to set up location-based notifications; pick areas of interest such as traffic and weather; choose delivery options including email, text or phone; and change their subscriptions at any time.
If subscribers choose not to sign up for the new EC Alert, they will no longer receive traffic or other notifications as of Tuesday. It takes about 10 minutes to create an account.
