Echo Mountain adding trail for next ski season

IDAHO SPRINGS – Echo Mountain Ski and Snowboard Area is opening more terrain before the start of next season.

The ski area on private land west of Denver plans to add a beginner run, plus more access to its glade skiing. Work is slated to begin this week, and the new trail should be complete within six to eight weeks.

Echo says its summer business of hosting weddings, receptions and other events won’t be affected.

Echo Mountain sits on 240 acres, but owner Jerry Petitt says only about 35 percent of it is developed for skiing and riding.

Echo officials say any trees cleared for the new trail will be reclaimed for erosion control, trail marking and for building new features.
