ECO Transit receives $1.1M for bus replacement

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – ECO Transit has been awarded a $1.132 million grant for bus replacement by the Federal Transit Authority . Results of the competitive grant process were announced Monday.
FTA standards indicate buses should be replaced every 500,000 miles or 12 years. According to ECO Transit Director Kelley Collier, the grant represents approximately 70 percent of the funding for four buses and will fulfill ECO’s bus replacement needs through 2013.
In addition, ECO Transit has received several smaller grants for projects in 2012, including $200,000 in operating funds, $30,000 for a park-and-ride and facility study, $35,000 for on-board technology equipment, and $103,000 for bus stop and shelter refurbishment and accessibility.
