Economic policy center needed, chamber leader says
Vail CO, Colorado
Who they talked to: Michael Kurz from the Vail Valley Partnership
What they talked about: The county needs an economic policy center and an information center for people relocating to the county, Kurz said.
The center would work with businesses throughout the county, discuss policies relating to businesses, and compile research about the economic opportunities for the county.
Kurz said the Vail Valley Partnership often gets calls from people relocating to the area who are looking for information. This center could be a good place to field those calls, he said.
The center would cost more than $200,000 to run the first year, and Kurz asked the county to help with a significant part of that.
Participate in The Longevity Project
The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
What’s next? Commissioners thought it was an interesting idea, but the planning is still in preliminary stages.
“We heard him out,” Commissioner Arn Menconi said. “We’re not deciding about it until the ’09 budget year.”
