Economist to speak in Eagle
EAGLE, Colorado Peter Wallison, former White House counsel to President Reagan, will talk about the nations financial crisis in Eagle on Tuesday. Peter is the Arthur F. Burns Fellow in Financial Studies at the American Enterprise Institute. His articles on the financial crisis have appeared in the Wall Street Journal and other publications. He also has appeared in FOX News. He is the author of Back from the Brink, a proposal for a private deposit insurance system and co-author of Nationalizing Mortgage Risk: the Growth of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.Wallison also was general counsel of the U.S. Treasury Department and counsel to Vice President Nelson Rockefeller during the Ford Administration. In between his stints in government, Peter was a partner at the international law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He lives in Old Snowmass with his wife, Frieda Wallison, who chairs the Pitkin County Republicans.Wallisons talk, “The Financial Crisis – How Did We Get Here, Where Are We Going and Why the Outcome of the Election Matters,” is scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the Eagle County Republican Victory Office in Eagle, next to the bowling alley.
