Economy topic at Vail’s annual community meeting
VAIL, Colorado Vails Annual Community Meeting and Open House will focus on the state of the towns economy.The meeting will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mar. 10 at the Donovan Pavilion, giving residents, business owners, property owners, employees and other interested people in the community a chance to learn about the towns economic health and future plans.Attendees can look at displays on the housing, forest health, transportation and parking, Interstate 70, environmental sustainability, recreation, water conservation and more.At 6 p.m., Mayor Dick Cleveland will give a brief presentation on the state of the town, followed by a question-and-answer session. The meeting will also include plans and information from the Vail Recreation District, Eagle River Water & Sanitation District, U.S. Forest Service and the Colorado Department of Transportation.This is the ninth consecutive year for the part-business, part-social gathering. Parking is free and light appetizers will be served.Attendees are also encouraged to bring donations of canned food or cash to help local food pantries. The donations will be collected at the door by volunteers from the local chapter of the Salvation Army and the town of Vail. Checks can be made out to the town of Vail Food Drive.Also, as part of the Colorado Association of Ski Towns Reusable Bag Challenge, recycled cotton reusable grocery bags will be distributed while supplies last.
