Edwards Backyard composting workshop May 24 and 26
May 11, 2011
EDWARDS –The Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability will host a backyard composting workshop for residents interested in learning about high-altitude backyard composting. The class will be held at the Colorado Mountain College Edwards campus on May 24 and May 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Whether you are new to composting, or want to learn more about composting at altitude, this class will benefit all levels of learners. Through composting, residents can supply their garden with a slow-releasing nutrient-rich supplement for their soil, reducing the need for commercial fertilizers and mulches. Other benefits of composting include the ability to battle climate change and greenhouse gases, reduce green waste, increase landfill space, control erosion and remediate contaminated soil.
The class will cost $40 for both nights, $30 for Alliance members, or $25 per individual class. For more information please contact the Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability at 970-827-9999 or visit http://www.eaglevalleyalliance.org.
