Edwards businesses roll out free Vail Valley events

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado ” From French films to gardening, Edwards businesses will offer free events for resident’s of Colorado’s Vail Valley during the end of the ski season and the off-season.

About a dozen Edwards businesses teamed up to plan The Sunday in Edwards series, which kicks off on Sunday.

“The idea was just to help promote Edwards businesses, especially during the off-season,” event organizer Heather Bruce said. “Just the idea of reminding locals there are some are some wonderful businesses there.”

Event schedule

What: Grow Your Own ” Seed Starting. A step by step demonstration on growing your own food. Learn the “whys,” “hows” and “whens” of starting your seeds indoors. Timing is everything.

When: 3 p.m. Sunday

Where: The Wildflower Farm, Edwards

What: Business blogging: An inexpensive and effective marketing option. Presented by Kristen Veraldi of Kinetic Blogs. Business blogging can be one of the least expensive tools in your online marketing arsenal. Find out how to make the most of these technologies for your local business.

Where: Colorado Mountain College, Edwards

What: French film comedy “Les Visiteurs.” French teacher Rosalie Isom, of Word for Word, will present a film version of the newspaper’s Sunday funnies. This zany movie is for vicarious French travelers and non-speakers who like to laugh. Hilarious time-traveling romp in which Count Godefry (actor Jean Reno) and his grotesque vassal Jacquoulle are accidentally zapped from the 12th Century to the present day. English subtitles. Where: E-Town, Edwards

What: A short talk about the Colorado Carbon Fund with Susan Innis. The Colorado Carbon Fund provides high quality carbon offsets to Coloradans as a way to support new energy efficiency and renewable energy projects to reduce carbon emissions in our state. Matthew’s will be offering sustainable wines and snack specials and there will also be giveaway items.
