Edwards cancer center offers health screenings

EDWARDS, Colorado ” Low-cost health screenings will available to men and women from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. this Saturday at the Shaw Cancer Center in Edwards, Colorado.
Each screening consists of a blood draw, and patients can choose different levels of tests, including a full chemical screen including lipids ($30), a prostate specific antigens test (for men only) ($20) and a complete blood count ($15).
The full chemical screen tests for cholesterol level, uric acid (a leading cause of gout and kidney stones) and thyroid conditions, among other issues. The prostatic specific antigen tests measures the potential for prostate cancer.
Vail Valley Medical Center screeners recommends no having anything to eat or drink 12 hours before the test unless the patient is diabetic or a doctor recommends otherwise.
“This is one way for us to give back to the community that supports us,” says Jack Eck, executive vice president of clinical program development and community outreach for Vail Valley Medical Center. “Screenings are available without an appointment and are fast, easy and cost efficient for those who attend.”
