Edwards: Cars broken into

EDWARDS, Colorado “-Police are investigating a series of car thefts in Edwards they say may be related.

Four separate vehicles parked in different locations in Edwards were burglarized between Tuesday and Wednesday, according to police.

In all four cases, electronic equipment was stolen from the vehicles, police said.

Edwards County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly declined to release additional details of the thefts, citing an ongoing investigation.

“They may be related, this just happened and we’re still investigating,” she said. “It’s something we want to let citizens be aware of.”

Cordingly said residents should lock their cars and keep valuable objects out of sight.

An Edwards resident, who requested his name not be printed, said his car was broken into Tuesday evening while parked in his driveway. The burglars smashed the window to his car and took about $500 in stereo equipment and tools, he said.

He said it was the second time in the past month his vehicle was broken into.

“It’s disconcerting,” he said.

The Edwards resident said he spoke to his neighbors, but that none of them had had anything stolen from their vehicles.

“They were just surprised,” he said.
