Edwards: Crash halts morning-rush traffic

EDWARDS, Colorado ” A two-car accident on U.S. Highway 6 brought traffic to a standstill Thursday morning.

A small passenger car going east lost control and hit a mini van going the opposite direction, Colorado State Trooper Benjamin Steger said.

The van had swerved in an attempt to avoid the other car, and ended up hitting the guardrail. The passenger car ended up blocking lanes going both ways, he said.

Roads were wet and it was snowing at the time of the accident. There were minor injuries.

The accident happened before 8 a.m., and the road was not cleared until 9 or 9:30 a.m., Steger said.

The crash caused another “bumper” accident further up the road near Riverwalk in Edwards, state troopers said.
