Edwards incumbent seeks an ambulance board seat

Name: Todd Goulding.
Occupation: Construction industry consultant.
Why do you want this job? What are your qualifications? I believe in being a strong steward of the taxpayer’s money while helping the district acquire and maintain the high quality employees and level of service we have all come to expect. I have a wide and varied community service background, having served on or chaired a number of boards, in both the public and private sectors. These include the Board of Directors of the Vail Mountain Rescue Group, Upper Eagle River Regional Water Authority, Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Officials Association, President of the Bristol Pines HOA, and former Avon Town council member.
What’s the biggest issue or problem facing the district today? During my time on the board, I have focused on current operations and long term viability of the fire district, including staffing, budgeting and long-term planning. Changes to the existing revenue streams have placed significant stress on the annual operating budget
Voters are being asked for a property tax increase in the May 3 election. Ballot measure supporters say the revenue is essential to cover a new shortfall caused by a decrease in reimbursement for transporting Medicaid patients. What’s your opinion of the ballot measure? I support the proposed mill levy to maintain current levels of service.

If voters reject the ballot measure, then what are your ideas for moving forward? If the ballot is not successful, then significant reductions in expenses will be required to balance the books. This would impact response times, ongoing training and community outreach.
