Edwards students raise money for cancer patient
Vail, CO Colorado
EDWARDS, Colorado ” A school dance organized by two students at Vail Christian High School raised $1,000 to aid a local cancer patient and her family.
Allie Parker and Tara Dalbow, both juniors at Vail Christian, put together a “Black-out” dance at the school, where students danced with neon glowsticks. About 90 people showed up at the dance, which is pretty good for a school with only 110 students, Parker said.
The money is going to Cathy Miller and her family. Miller was diagnosed with lung cancer and has begun chemotherapy and will also need radiation therapy. She’s lived in Colorado for 17 years and has worked in Eagle for 10 years. She is a dental assistant for Dr. Greg Adair.
Funds to help with her medical costs are being collected at Alpine Bank and Dr. Greg Adair’s dental office in Eagle.
Last year, Parker and Dalbow organized a dance to benefit children in Kenya who are losing their parents to AIDS, and are already thinking about organizing another fundraiser for next year.
