EDWARDS, Colorado – Under the direction of Music Director Aaron Wacker, the music program at Battle Mountain High School (BMHS) has transformed the way students think and feel about music. One such group, The High Notes, was recently invited to perform at the Show Choir Nationals this coming spring.

To ring in its 10th Anniversary, Show Choir Nationals will welcome 22 prestigious choirs (The High Notes included) from 10 different states on March 24-27 to perform in the historic Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn.

Show Choir Nationals has become one of the premier competitions for show choirs in America and Canada.

“Being invited to perform in the Show Choir National Competition is a huge honor,” Wacker said. “We are one of only 22 groups performing, and the only group from Colorado. Performing at the Grand Ole Opry house will be huge for the future of the performers, as well as Battle Mountain High School. This competition puts our students and our school on the radar as a national-ranked show choir and music department.”

The High Notes is comprised of the following students: Remsen Allard, Michael Ball, Charlie Barry, Natasha Bell, Woody Brook, Logan Carlson, Abby Cohen, Trevor Davidson, Jake Dutmer, Anna Galer, Bailey Garton, Collin Idzikowski, Jillian Kiss, Chelsea Larson, Blaize Olle, Keegan Quagliano, Cliff Rodrick, Jazz Sheffer, Meredith Steinke, Anna Tedstrom and Kris Thornton.

Middle and high school choirs will be evaluated by a panel of seven nationally-renowned adjudicators. All aspects of each choir’s strengths will be judged, including: group’s overall performance, individual performance, musicality and back-up combo contribution.

Heading to the Show Choir Nationals competition is not only very exciting, but also very expensive. The students are looking for any donations to help them travel to Nashville and represent Battle Mountain High School and the state of Colorado.
