Edwards talks open space
EDWARDS, Colorado Edwards residents will have a chance to voice their open space concerns at a meeting held by the Eagle Valley Land Trust Tuesday.The goal of the community meeting is to find out what areas in the county residents want to preserve, said New New Wallace, the Land Trusts director of development.Tuesdays meeting, which will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Singletree Pavilion in Edwards, is part of a series of discussions taking place in each of the valleys towns. Eagle and Avon both have had similar meetings in the past month.Results will be compiled and presented to county commissioners and open space planners, Wallace said.We want peoples feedback so we are taking the forum for discussion to the people to their neighborhoods, she said.Wallace called Edwards a hot spot of concerns, with all the potential development for the area. Work will start soon on the West End mixed-use development, the area has traffic problems and county commissioners have talked about building affordable housing on the now vacant B&B parcel.County commissioners are expected to attend the Edwards meeting.Other meetings will be held for Vail, Minturn and Red Cliff, Gypsum, and Colorado River Road/U.S. Highway 131 residents in the next month.
