Edwards women raising funds for cancer walk
Vail, CO Colorado
EDWARDS, Colorado ” A team of Edwards women will raise money for breast cancer treatment and awareness this summer by walking a marathon from Keystone to Frisco.
The group from the Arrowhead Alpine Club hope to raise $30,000 in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer on June 28 to 29, said organizer Nadine Davis.
This is the club’s first year participating, but the group is already off to a strong start. The Alpine Club, with $23,700 as of this week, is the top fundraiser in the Rocky Mountains. The group is also holding a silent auction and will be accepting donations through Apr. 14.
The team currently has 10 members, three of which are breast cancer survivors. They are still looking for additional team members ” the cost is $1,800 per walker.
“Our common thread is the Alpine Club, but we want to encourage others to join. Either through a battle with breast cancer, supporting someone in that battle or being inspired by others, we have come together to fight breast cancer and make a difference,” Davis said.
The nationwide walk was launched in 2003 and has raised more than $200 million for cancer centers, research and support organizations.
