El Jebel construction site ransacked

Daily Staff Report

EL JEBEL, Colorado ” Contractors arrived at Missouri Heights construction site Thursday to find someone had cut the locks and pried open doors of their trailers, the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said.

Between $8,000 and $10,000 worth of property was stolen or damaged at the construction site, the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said.

A laptop was among the property missing.

Following a construction site theft in Missouri Heights last summer, crime dropped after several contractors in the area installed surveillance and alarm systems.

Thursday’s theft occurred at the only construction site in the area unequipped with a surveillance or alarm system, the Sheriff’s Office said.

There are at least two persons of interest from whom sheriff’s deputies say they are seeking information.

Two suspicious Hispanic males visited the construction site Wednesday afternoon in a blue single-cab four-wheel drive Toyota truck, the Sheriff’s Office said.

If you have information about these people or the crime, you can remain anonymous by calling the Eagle County Crime Stoppers at 970-328-7007, 1-800-972-TIPS, or by submitting your tip online at http://www.tipsubmit.com. If your tip leads to the arrest and indictment of any suspect involved, you could earn up to a $1,000 reward from the Crime Stoppers.
