VAIL, Colorado -Colorado music fans are savvy, and they’re not bad dancers either, says Joey Porter, the keyboardist for a new electro-funk band called Juno What?!, which plays in Vail Wednesday night.

“I think that the Colorado music scene is one of the best scenes in the country,” he said. “I see it getting better and better over the next few years.”

Porter and the other half of the duo – Dave Watts, the band’s drummer – will perform at Samana Lounge in Vail Wednesday night for the first time. Juno What?! is a high energy, funk-disco electronica band.

“We mix ’80s-inspired dance music with today’s electronica music,” Porter said.

Both Porter and Watts are members of The Motet, a Boulder-based band Watts founded 10 years ago.

“The guys in the band are some heavy hitters musically,” said Scotty Stoughton of Samana Lounge. “They’re the upper echelon of Colorado artists. They’re precision-based and on their game reading, writing, jamming and they’re always mixing up new stuff.”

Watts and Porter will be joined on stage by keyboardist Jerod Sarlo, Porter said.

“People who come to our show can expect to dance their asses off,” Porter said. “Even if you don’t normally move around at shows, you’ll find yourself not able to control it, you’re gonna move!”
