Elevate excellence at your own pace

Michael NortonVail, CO, Colorado

It seems like local businesses and employees are starting to get excited about the upcoming ski season. Participation in the new Elevate Excellence program, http://www.elevateexcellence.com, is increasing every day.The program is concise said Geoffrey Ryan from Vail Ski Tech, adding that the program was a welcome change from sitting in a classroom for hours. Others have applauded the ability to go through the program at their own pace and on their own schedule. Some of the participants appreciate the content presented by such renowned authors and speakers such as Zig Ziglar and Denis Waitley. The Elevate Excellence program replaces the old Turn It Up! program as a way for members and merchants to qualify for the Merchant Ski Pass. Participants in the Elevate Excellence program also get the benefit of having access to the content year round. This is a huge benefit as the content contains quick tips and advice in the areas of sales, management, leadership, customer service, time management, and much more. There are more than 10,000 tips in the online library that can help you grow your business and provide greater guest services to your customers said Adam Bialek, Product Manager for CanDoGo. The Vail Chamber & Business Association, in partnership with Vail Resorts and CanDoGo, has arranged to provide this service for 12 months for every participating merchant, not just individual participants. The program is off to a terrific start and like anything new, there have been a few bugs to work out. When you go to http://www.elevateexcellence.com for the first time you will go through the registration process. It will take 24 hours from the time you register to actually have access to the program. We know that many of our merchants wait until the last minute to purchase merchant passes, so we are encouraging you to be proactive and register as soon as possible to avoid delays for you and your employees on that first powder day. If you wait until the day the mountain opens you will have to wait one more day to go through the program so please register early. The goal of the program is to provide training and education to the Vail merchant community that will elevate excellence in all aspects of guest services. Remember that customers choose where they will spend their money and those that visit us will be spending money. Your choice is how you will take advantage of this program to increase the skill sets of everyone on your team. And, although some believe that training and motivation are just temporary, remember that so is bathing and most would recommend that you do that frequently, too. So take advantage of the education, its the most cost effective training you can get.For more information about http://www.elevateexcellence.com or information about the Vail Chamber & Business Association please call us at 970-477-0075 or e-mail us at info@vailchamber.org. And as always, thank you in advance for the opportunity to serve you in the future.Michael Norton is director of the Vail Chamber & Business Association.
