Employee leaves Vail Valley water district after 38 yrs
VAIL, Colorado “-The most tenured employee at the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District’s, which provides water to Colorado’s Vail Valley will retire this month, the district announced on Wednesday.
Roy Vasquez is a 38-year veteran of the district and began working when Vail Water and Sanitation District was the local water authority and had only five employees.
Vasquez has worked on and played a role in the numerous components of the district’s water and wastewater system and was often heavily involved in the maintenance of the distribution and collection systems. He has amassed a number of certifications and most recently identified trouble spots in more than 187 miles of pipe in the district’s system.
“All of us at the district congratulate Roy on his 38 years of fine service and send our best wishes for great happiness in retirement,” said Dennis Gelvin, the district’s general manager.
Vasquez was born in Gilman and raised in Minturn. He served in the Air Force but returned to Minturn to raise his two daughters with his wife, Lorraine.
