The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration (ECOT) is celebrating 40 years in the Vail Valley. An anniversary party themed “40 years is just the beginning” was recently held at 4 Eagle Ranch with a worship service, family activities and barbecue dinner. The celebration’s activities included cowboy golf, face painting, slack lining and line dancing. The esteemed clergy of the Episcopal Church, The Reverend Stuart Brooks Keith III (aka Father Brooks), The Reverend Mark Huggenvik (aka Pastor Mark) and The Reverend Steven Baird (aka Deacon Steve) even learned a “Holy Hoe-down” line dance to John Denver’s “Thank God I’m a Country Boy,” choreographed especially for them by JoAnn Moore. If you missed that performance, then you can find it on YouTube under Holy Hoedown.

In a letter of congratulations sent to ECOT by the Right Reverend Robert J. O’Neill, Bishop of the Diocese of Colorado; the Bishop stated “The Church of the Transfiguration in Vail has exercised a vital ministry of worship, pastoral care, Christian education and outreach over the past four decades. The renovation of the Vail Chapel and the development of the Interfaith Chapel in Edwards are tangible signs of the grace that has led your parish to grow from a small resort chapel to a large congregation that is a full partner with the communities you serve up and down the valley, with leadership represented in almost every nonprofit organization in the area.”

‘Grateful to Have You’

Father Brooks Keith, pastor of ECOT, said of the anniversary celebration: “Rarely have I experienced such joyful and sweet gathering of Christians in any church setting. Surely God blessed us last weekend as He continues to bless us in this significant milestone in the unfolding story of our church family.”
