Ex-state Sen. Tom Norton running for Greeley mayor

GREELEY, Colorado ” Former state Senate President Tom Norton says he will run for mayor of Greeley.

He told the Greeley Tribune in Thursday’s editions he can provide leadership and improve the city.

Norton ran the state Department of Transportation for eight years under then-Gov. Bill Owens and once owned an engineering and consulting firm.

The current mayor, retired police officer Ed Clark, has said he won’t run for re-election.

Clark is known for being outspoken and once said he hoped the Tribune would fold. He was also involved in a high-profile altercation with teen who was later ticketed for riding a motorbike without a license.
