Fall fun runs raise funds in Vail Valley

VAIL, Colorado – Registration is underway for the annual Battle Mountain High School Cross CountryTeam 5K Citizen’s Race, scheduled for 9 a.m., Oct. 3 on Beaver Creek Mountain. Fun runners also can sign up for the first-ever Pumpkin Festival 5K Fun Run at 10 a.m., Oct. 10 at 4 Eagle Ranch.

Both races cost $25 for pre-registration or $35 on race-day. Racers can register at http://www.vailrec.com.

The Citizen’s Race is an annual fundraiser for the Battle Mountain High School Cross Country Team and will take runners from the base of Beaver Creek Mountain on a 5K-trail run along the Village Loop and lower portions of the mountain.



The Pumpkin Festival 5k Fun Run is presented by 4 Eagle Ranch, the Vail rec district and KZYR 97.7 and is the kickoff event for Saturday’s Pumpkin Festival at the ranch. The 5K fun run will take runners on the rolling fields of 4 Eagle Ranch giving them breathtaking views of the New York Mountain Range and area cattle grazing lands.

There also will be a free kid’s obstacle course for the little ones during the 5K race. Following the race, the festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes a wagon rides, a haystack maze and a pumpkin patch. Cost is $5 per person for the festival and 50 percent of the proceeds benefit the Shaw Regional Cancer Center. Running race participants receive free entry into the festival.
