VAIL – The Lionshead Saturday After-noon Club continues today in Lionshead Vil-lage. The event, which features a variety of free family activities, runs from 3 to 6 p.m. every Saturday through Aug. 4.

Activities include children’s arts-and-crafts projects, face painting, a pizza-tossing com-petition, an inflatable obstacle course and an array of displays and offers from participating Lionshead restaurants and retailers.

The Raptor Rendezvous bird-education program will also be available at the Saturday Afternoon Club. The Denver-based Raptor Education Foundation give attendees an up-close look at eagles, hawks, falcons and owls in the two-hour educational program through Aug. 7 from 3 to 5 p.m. on the grassy lawn adjacent to the Eagle Bahn Gondola. Subjects and birds change from week to week. No dogs are allowed at the Raptor Ren-dezvous program. New this year at the Saturday Afternoon Club is also the Lionshead Kids’ Discovery Zone, an educational area designed for fam-ilies to enjoy learning something new about their world together. This week, the Discov-ery Zone gives families a sneak peek at what it might be like to run away to the circus. “Under the Big Top,” a free circus skills zone, teaches the skills necessary to become a cir-cus clown, including juggling and stilt-walk-ing demonstrations and lessons. The area also offers hula hoops, face painting and a water-balloon challenge.
