VAIL, Colorado – Rain this evening could turn to snow tonight, and Vail could have a few fresh inches on the ground for the final week of ski season.

The National Weather Service says there is a 60 percent chance of snow tonight and a 70 percent chance Tuesday, when thunder is also possible. Snow could continue Tuesday night before the sun comes out Wednesday. The storm could leave a few inches behind, the Weather Service says.

After a dry winter, Vail has had a snowy spring. The mountain has reported more than 2 1/2 feet in the last seven days.

The next chance of rain or snow is Friday and Saturday at higher elevations. Vail Mountain closes for the season on Sunday.
