Final Western Family Night at 4 Eagle Ranch

Daily Staff Report

Just as summer gives way to the first signs of fall in the Vail Valley, 4 Eagle Ranch’s Western Family Nights will ride off into the summer sunset Wednesday, as the historic homesteaded ranch plays host to the final 2003 installment of the popular weekly event.

The last Western Family Night will run from 5-9 p.m. and include live music, horse-drawn wagon rides and a bountiful ranch buffet, along with horseshoes and other western activities for the entire family. Horseback riding is also available early in the evening for an additional cost.

“Late summer is a great time to experience the ranch,” explained Tom Backhus, owner and operator of 4 Eagle Ranch. “And Western Family Night is a perfect opportunity to bring the entire family out for a unique evening of food and fun. Although none of us are eager to say goodbye to summer, we do have this one last chance to celebrate in true Colorado style.”

The ranch buffet will include grilled top sirloin steak, barbecued baby back ribs and chicken quarters, along with salad, 4 Eagle’s renowned “Not So Kick-Ass Cowboys Beans,” new potatoes, rolls or cornbread and cookies and hot fruit cobbler for dessert.

The evening, including dinner and activities, is priced at $25 for adults, $15 for children 6-12 and seniors 62 and over, and $8 for children 5 or younger.

4 Eagle Ranch is located four miles north of Wolcott on Highway 131. Homesteaded in 1885 and once a part of one of the largest ranches in Colorado, 4 Eagle is currently a 1,600-acre spread.
