Final work on Eagle County airport runway is this week

Vail Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

EAGLE COUNTY – The runway at Eagle County Regional Airport will be closed to all private aircraft beginning at 9 a.m. June 3 through 9 p.m. June 9 to allow for the completion of last summer’s runway expansion work.

Commercial air traffic will continue as scheduled, with the exception of a suspension of service between 8:30 a.m. June 3 and 9 p.m. June 4. The times were selected to allow the 7:30 a.m. United Airlines departure to Denver June 3 and arrival of the 10:03 p.m. United flight from Denver June 4.

During the closure, crews will apply a final seal coat and paint final markings on the runway and taxiway. June 10, the day after the work is complete, will mark the beginning of the summer flight schedule, including three daily flights to Denver on United Airlines, as well as daily non-stop service to Dallas/Fort Worth and new Saturday non-stop service to Miami, both on American Airlines.
