Find WMD’s in Vail Saturday night
VAIL ” New York City modern rock band The WMDs will play at The Sandbar in Vail, tonight at 10 p.m. This band has developed a reputation for high-energy, interactive shows that mix cover songs with original material.
Formed in 2003 by singer/songwriter Brian Bauers and guitarist Jaime Sturm, the band blends timeless songwriting, string arrangements and scorching guitar work to underscore ambitious lyrics and catchy hooks. Joining the duo on Saturday night will be New York session drummer Paul Amorese and keyboardist Jed Fort.
Their unique sound has caught on quickly with crowds throughout the New York tri-state area.
Whether reintroducing classic rock staples, resurrecting old school Hip-Hop, or reinventing current top-40, the band strives to give the audience a good show.
The band cut its teeth on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, becoming regulars at local clubs such as Pianos and the seminal Luna Lounge ” the Ludlow street crawl that spawned bands like The Strokes and Longwave. Despite being in their 20s, the guys have impressive resumes. Lead singer Brian Bauers is an award-winning music producer and composer. His 2002 Nike “Pull Up” campaign was declared the year’s No. 1 Sound Design in Shoot Magazine. Collectively, the band has contributed production, songwriting and session work for names like Gavin Degraw, Akon, Jojo, Nike, AOL, Sears, Kraft Foods, BlueFly, Ford and BMW to name just a few. They aren’t shy of the big stage either, having collectively shared the stage with John Mayer, Matisyahu, Kaki King, Bleu and Juvenile.
The WMDs debut album is now available on iTunes, while their follow-up album is slated for a summer 2008 release. For more information visit http://www.myspace.com/WMDband.
