Fire heavily damages Avon pool room
Avon, CO Colorado
AVON, Colorado ” Flames were shooting through the pool room of the Beaver Creek West condominiums in Avon, Colorado when firefighters arrived at 5 a.m. this morning.
The fire started in a mechanical room and was burning between the roof and the ceiling.
“We just kept chasing it until we finally put it out,” said Battalion Chief Cipriano Tafoya, of the Eagle River Fire Protection District.
District Fire Chief Charlie Moore said in a press release that the fire was under control within 45 minutes, but it took nearly two hours to fully extinguish the fire because of a structural collapse of the roof. The fire was put out about 9 a.m., according to Tafoya.
Four trucks from the Eagle River district and one truck from Vail responded to the fire that is still being investigated. Moore estimated the damage to be around $100,000.
