Fire restrictions lifted in local forest
EAGLE COUNTY ” Restrictions on campfires in the national forest have been lifted as a result of recent rain and the approach of cooler nights.
Campfires could be restricted again this summer if the weather turns hot and dry and forest managers say hikers and campers should always be cautious when lighting fires in the wilderness.
Fireworks are never allowed on public land.
“We monitor fire danger daily, and we believe it is safe to lift fire restrictions,” said Fire Management Officer Bill Hahnenberg with the Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit in Grand Junction. The
Eagle County’s White River National Forest is a part of the Interagency Fire Management Unit.
