Fire scorches 10 acres near Georgetown
GEORGETOWN ” A wildfire has scorched at least 10 acres along Interstate 70 near Georgetown.
The fire was reported on Wednesday and crews were still fighting the flames Thursday morning.
The cause was first reported to be an electrical transformer, but Xcel Energy spokesman Tom Henley says none of the company’s equipment has malfunctioned.
Jim Vogt of the Idaho Springs police says winds helped spread the fire.
He says there’s no snow cover in the area, which makes things dry.
No buildings were threatened and no injuries have been reported.
