Firefighter still hospitalized after Durango fire
DURANGO, Colo. (AP) ” A firefighter blown into the air after an explosion and fire that destroyed three downtown Durango businesses is expected to be in the hospital a while longer.
Durango Fire and Rescue Authority spokesman Dave Abercrombie says seven firefighters were taken to a hospital after the explosion Friday, and three stayed overnight. Two were released Saturday. Abercrombie says the other firefighter was in fair condition Saturday with chest trauma from being thrown into the air.
He says that firefighter was among about a half dozen on the roof of a burning restaurant when the building exploded.
The cause of the fire and explosion was under investigation. There was no immediate estimate of the dollar amount of damage.
