Firefighter, teen killed in Grand Lake avalanche
GRAND LAKE, Colorado ” One of the snowmobilers killed in an avalanche near Grand Lake was a firefighter in suburban Denver.
The South Metro Fire Rescue Authority says that one of the victims of Saturday’s avalanche was Brian Kopp, a 38-year-old firefighter from Larkspur.
Also killed was 19-year-old Mark Goetz of Arvada. The avalanche occurred Saturday afternoon as four Colorado residents were snowmobiling near Gravel Mountain, west of Rocky Mountain National Park.
Three of the snowmobilers were caught in the slide, but one of them was able to escape.
