Special to the Daily Alison Epsom and Paul Killick will be one of th couples performing for the Vail International Dance Festival's "Ballroom Best" Aug. 12. Fireworks will go off after the performance in honor of the Vail Valley Foundation's 25th anniversary.

VAIL – The Vail International Dance Festival’s Aug. 12 performance will feature fireworks both on and off the Ford Amphitheater stage as the festival’s presentation of “Ballroom’s Best” joins forces with the Vail Valley Foundation’s 25th anniversary celebration.The pyrotechnics will get under way at 6:30 p.m. as five of the world’s hottest exhibition dance couples from around the globe light up the night with an evening of edgy jive, spicy Latin, hot tango and smooth waltz, produced exclusively for the festival.

Following the performance, the fireworks will take to the night sky, while the audience will also be treated to birthday cake and hot chocolate in celebration of the foundation’s 25th anniversary.Heading the list of ballroom couples on display Aug. 12 will be British Open and World Exhibition champions Hanna Karttunen and Victor da Silva. The couple’s recent performances have included an evening in honor of Prince Albert of Monaco in Monte Carlo and the 2005 Global Media Awards for the International Olympic Committee.Joining Karttunen and da Silva will be Alison Epsom and Paul Killick, Ana Llorente and Brian Jolly, Anna Trebunskaya and Jonathan Roberts and Eulia Baranovsky and Steven Dougherty.

Trebunskaya and Roberts have both appeared on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”, while Killick has partnered with Cyd Charisse and hosted a weekly chat show on dance with John Travolta on PBS.
