First Riverview tenants are home for the holidays in Eagle-Vail
EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – Nineteen families at Riverview Apartments have returned home in time to celebrate the holidays following an extensive rehabilitation project that includes new siding and insulation, improvements to the lighting, landscaping and parking lot and some interior renovations. Riverview encompasses 72 units and is Eagle County’s only Section 8 housing complex, with rental rates dependent on income and subsidized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.Construction at Riverview began in mid-August and is scheduled for completion next spring. Reports from Avon-based general contractor R.A. Nelson & Associates Inc. indicate the renovation has created more than 180 local construction jobs, ranging from two flooring specialists to 30 framers.”We are thrilled to welcome our first tenants back to a much-improved complex,” said Eagle County Housing Director Jill Klosterman. “Not only will our tenants enjoy the results of the rehabilitation, but the community benefits of the project include job creation, energy conservation and better aesthetics for Riverview’s neighbors,” Klosterman said.Funding for the rehabilitation came from a combination of competitive tax credit allocations in the amount of $3.8 million, grants from HUD and the Colorado Division of Housing totaling $1.5 million and an $8.9 million permanent loan. The next round of units is expected to be ready for occupancy in January. For more information, call Klosterman at 970-328-8773.
