Fisher to seek second term as Eagle County commissioner
Vail, CO Colorado
EAGLE COUNTY – Eagle County Commissioner Sara Fisher announced this week she’ll seek a second term in office.
Fisher, a Gypsum Democrat, was elected in 2006. She previously served two terms as Eagle County Clerk and Recorder and was forced out by term limits in 2002.
Fisher announced her intentions to seek a second term just this week at Democratic precinct caucuses and in an opion piece published in Wednesday’s Vail Daily.
In that piece, Fisher wrote about suffering a brain aneurysm in December that put her in the hospital for a few weeks. She returned to work gradually in January and February.
“So here I am, in what my doctors tell me is one of the best recoveries possible,” she wrote. “I’m back to work full time, and I am running for re-election. This recent experience deeply affirms my belief that teamwork, communication, good planning and compassion make miracles happen.”
Fisher is the incumbent, but wasn’t the first declared candidate for the job this election season. Gypsum Republican Claudia Alexander announced a run for the position late last year.
