Sometimes you stumble into a bar for a drink only to catch a band that completely destroys a room with no-holds-barred abandon: They get drunk, rock really hard without worrying about pretentious things like innovation, and disappear like thieves in the night. You might not remember them, but youll remember all the things that got you in trouble. Dicky Jaguar and the Five Percenters are that band. Like The Stooges on high-octane rocket fuel, they kick, scream, and yowl their way through unstoppable, booze-fueled rock sets. They may flame out in a haze of sex, drugs, and rock n roll, but at least you can say you were there for their brief lifespan. What: Dicky Jaguar and the Five Percenters performs.Where: Hi-Dive, Denver. When: Monday, 8 p.m.Cost: $6.Info: http://www.hi-dive.com or 720-570-4500.

Journalist and author Mary Roach has made a name for herself by going where others fear to tread: Her past subjects include investigating what happens to the body when we die and the science of ghosts. But more than just a profiler, she pulls you in with observational detail and off-the-wall humor. Her latest, Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Sex and Science, profiles the bizarre world of sex research. She even gets involved enough to, ahem, do a little research of her own. In the process, we learn just how new the true science of sex is and how much we still have to learn. Mary Roach hosts a free book signing and discussion at the Tattered Cover tonight. What: Mar Roach signs copies of Bonk and leads a discussion.Where: Tattered Cover, East Colfax. When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.Cost: Free.Info: 303-322-7727 or http://www.tatteredcover.com.

Rocker John Reis has certainly done his rock n roll duty: As a member of not one but three seminal acts Drive Like Jehu, Rocket From The Crypt, and Hot Snakes Reis has blended unique, fierce takes on punk, rock, R&B, and indie rock with fierce stabs of technical precision and ridiculous drive. But lucky for us, hes not done yet. His latest combo, The Night Marchers, shares two members with Hot Snakes and explores nighttime punk and surfer visions of hardass rock. Reis just wont quit and were better off for it.What: The Night Marchers performs.Where: Larimer Lounge, Denver. When: Friday, 9 p.m.Cost: $12/14.Info: http://www.larimerlounge.com.

How Margaret Cho went from lame ABC sitcom to stand-up comedy all-star and poster girl for lesbian entertainers, well never know. But its a good thing she did, since her comedy still has a bite and edge a sitcom could never have. Her comedy shows usually play like half comedy act, half one-woman play, and she deftly explores sexual politics, life as an immigrants daughter, and growing up other. Shell have your sides splitting the whole time, and maybe give you something to chew on mentally as well. This tour, Beautiful, is her first tour since 2005s lauded Im The One That I Want. What: Margaret Cho performs stand-up.Where: Paramount Theatre, Denver.Cost: $28.50-$48.50.Info: Visit http://www.tickethorse.com or call the theater box office at 303-623-0106 for tix.

Mexican wrestling is so much better than WWE: Theyve got awesome masks, for one, but they also wrestle with real moves. The abortive Nacho Libre aside, its pretty exciting to watch grown men in masks and tights give themselves superhero names and hurl each other across a ring. Wisely, to introduce themselves to a western audience, Lucha Libre teamed with the Colorado Rapids to provide a day of fun, food, soccer, and ass-kicking. In addition to live wrestling, free masks will be available for kids, as well as vendors and live music. Soccer has already caught on with the youth is Mexican wrestling next? See for yourself …What: FutboLucha 2008 Mexican Wrestling/Soccer.Where: Dicks Sporting Goods Park, Commerce City. When: Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.Cost: $30 for Rapids/Lucha Libre combo.Info: 1-800-461-6556 or http://www.dsounduneed.com.
