WEST VAIL – If there was one decade when the Grateful Dead really shined its love light on its devoted fans, it was the 1970s.DeadZone will cover the tunes from that decade tonight at 9 at the Sandbar in West Vail. The band came together as a collaboration of musicians from Dead cover bands from the ’80s and ’90s, such as Hidden Playground (Connecticut), Shakedown Street (Connecticut and Colorado), Jake’s Leg (Missouri), One Kind Favor (Colorado), and August West (Colorado). Band members have appeared with Vince Welnick and Tom Constanten of the Grateful Dead, Jeff Pevar of Crosby, Stills and Nash and Phil Lesh and Friends, Rob Eaton of Dark Star Orchestra and Bob Bralove. DeadZone, considered the best in the region at recreating the ’70s experience, said the folks at Sandbar, will play several sets of Grateful Dead music tonight.
