Flu shots by appointment only in Vail Valley
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL VALLEY –Eagle County’s Department of Public Health is offering seasonal and H1N1 flu shots by appointment only at its officers in Eagle and Avon in Colorado’s Vail Valley.
All community members are eligible and are encouraged to get vaccinated against both types of flu. According to public health officials, seasonal flu typically peaks locally in February so it’s not too late to get vaccinated.
Also, the symptoms of influenza are similar to those caused by many other viruses, so community members are advised to receive the vaccines even if they have already experienced flu-like illness.
Guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control indicate that children age 9 years or younger should receive two doses of H1N1 vaccine, at least four weeks apart, for maximum effectiveness.
To make an appointment, call the Avon office at 970-949-7026 or the Eagle office at 970-328-8840. Cost of the seasonal flu vaccine is $20 for those 19 and older and $10 for those 18 and younger; the H1N1 vaccine is free.
