FLY Dance Company teaching hip-hop Aug. 5
VAIL – Local boys and girls who admire hip-hop dancers now have a chance to learn a few new moves Aug. 5, as Houston’s innovative FLY Dance Company hosts a free hip-hop master class in conjunction with the Vail International Dance Festival’s community outreach program.
Scheduled from 10-11 a.m. at Meadow Mountain Elementary School, participants in the free class need no previous dance experience, just a love of the hip-hop culture. Class size is limited to 25 participants and students are required to be 13 years of age or older.”This is a great opportunity for our local children to interact and learn from some of the world class performers we have at the dance festival,” said Vail Valley Foundation President Ceil Folz. “FLY’s mission is to bring hip-hop more into the mainstream and this free class will be a great deal of fun for all participants.”
In addition to the free master class, FLY Dance Company will also be featured in a free family matinee performance at the Ford Amphitheater Aug. 7 at 3 p.m. The four members of FLY can also be seen in a pair of “Village Vignettes” Aug. 5 at noon at the Children’s Fountain in Vail Village and Aug. 6, also at noon, at the Black Family Ice Rink in Beaver Creek Village.
