Food drive in Vail Valley May 29

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado ” Eagle County will take on its towns in a Vail Valley food drive from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
Elected officials from the towns of Avon, Eagle, Gypsum, Red Cliff and Vail will join the Eagle County Commissioners in a contest to collect the most donations. All collections will benefit local food banks, which have seen dramatic increases in demand over the last several months.
Vail, Avon and Eagle officials will be at their town’s respective City Market stores. Gypsum officials will be a Columbine Market and Red Cliff officials will be stationed at the Wal-Mart in Avon. Eagle County commissioners will be at the Village Market in Edwards.
Items that are most needed include tuna fish, pasta and pasta sauce, macaroni and cheese, canned fruit and vegetables, peanut butter and jelly, cereal, rice, beans, soup, granola bars, crackers and pancake mix. Toilet paper and diaper also are need. Money can also be donated.
