VAIL, Colorado ” More than a foot of snow could fall in Vail thanks to a “strong” winter storm system forecast to move in Wednesday, the National Weather Service says.

Rain and snow could start in Vail tonight. The National Weather Service forecast for Wednesday is a chance of rain and snow showers before noon, then rain showers likely. Less than an inch of snow could fall.

Another two to four inches could fall Wednesday night with more snow expected throughout the day and night Thursday. Snow shows are expected to continue through Friday night, with a chance of rain or snow lingering in Saturday, the National Weather Service says.



The sun should come out for closing day on Vail Mountain Sunday, the Weather Service says.
