Forecast: More snow for Vail Valley

National Weather ServiceA winter storm has moved in over the western US and should arrive in Vail Tuesday

VAIL, Colorado “-Light snow showers in Vail, Colorado today should intensify into widespread heavier snow tonight, the National Weather Service says.

A winter storm warning is in effect from midnight tonight until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The Weather Service says between five and nine inches of snow could fall in Vail Tuesday followed by a 70 percent chance of snow on Wednesday. The Weather Service says 16 inches could fall by Wednesday evening.

Strong winds during the storm will cause drifting and blowing snow and the Weather Service advisers travelers to check weather reports.

Though neither mountain reported snow in the last 24 hours, Vail is reported 20 inches in the last seven days and Beaver Creek, 25.
