Foreign newspaper charges Vail Valley man

Eagle Valley Enterprise staff report
Vail Valley, CO Colorado

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado “-Critics in the Vail Valley have long blamed newspapers for harboring biases and fanning controversy. Well, here’s a new complaint: A Vietnamese newspaper may be involved in a fraudulent charge on a Wolcott man’s debit card.

On April 22, a Wolcott man reported to police that someone had used his debit card to buy just over $1,000 worth of goods, an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report said.

Bank statements suggested the card had been used at an online computer store. Customer service representatives at the computer store gave police the name of a California man who made the purchase. The California man’s address matched the addresses for a real estate company and what appeared to be a Vietnamese newspaper, police said.

The computer store canceled the order and the Wolcott man got his money back.
