Forest Service asks for comments on new lift

VAIL – Before Vail Resorts can build a new high-speed chairlift out of Lionshead, the U.S. Forest Service wants to know what the public thinks.The Forest Service is asking for public comments on the lift plan by Aug. 5 as part of an environmental review of the proposed lift.The new lift would be just west of the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort. Vail Resorts intends to build 108 luxury condominiums near the lift base. The lift would also connect with the Pride Lift on Safari Trail.Before construction can begin, the resort company needs approvals from both the town of Vail and the Forest Service. Before signing off on the project, the Forest Service wants public comments as part of its review process.Comments about the lift can be sent to: Cal Wettstein, District Ranger, Holy Cross Ranger District, P.O.
