Former Lt. Gov. Norton preparing Colorado Senate bid
DENVER – Former Colorado Lt. Gov. Jane Norton is preparing a bid to seek the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate next year.
Norton has filed federal campaign papers and set up a campaign Web site, though she has not yet formally announced her candidacy. Norton will face a crowded pack of five other Republicans for the nomination to challenge freshman Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet.
Norton was lieutenant governor under Republican Gov. Bill Owens from 2003 to 2007. She did not seek the governor’s office after Owens’ final term and is currently executive director of the Denver Police Foundation.
