Former Vail resident Mary Senac dies

VAIL, Colorado “-Mary Senac, of Sun City, Ariz., went to meet God and be with her family and friends, including her only son, on April 2.

Mary was born Mary Joyce Povetz in Ansonia, Conn., and is survived by her uncle and aunt, Andrew and Lillian Wachuck; and by many who knew and loved her, including her dogs, Sammy, Max and Jack-Jack.

Mary attended King’s College in New York, majoring in business. After college Mary moved to Vail, where she met Alain Senac. Together they opened and operated Alain’s, a 5-star French restaurant.

Mary also opened and operated the Corona Cafe and Cantina, serving authentic Mexican fare. She lived in Vail for 30 years.

Mary loved to travel; her restaurant skills brought her to many places around the country including Sedona, Ariz., at Los Abrigatos; Las Vegas, N.V.,. at the Monte Carlo; and Grass Valley/Nevada City Calif., where she opened the Lucky restaurant.

This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.

Moving to Sun City and ready to retire from the restaurant business, Mary took a position at the Wells Fargo bank on 99th and Bell as a teller at the drive up window. She was an outstanding employee and entertained both patrons and employees alike with her laughter and smile.

There will be a celebration/memorial for all of Mary’s friends at The Lakes Restaurant in the Westbrook Village Golf Club, 19260 N Westbrook Parkway, Peoria, AZ 85382 on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to p.m., in celebration of Mary’s birth date St. Patrick’s Day.
